There are various alternatives for those who don’t dive in Zanzibar. Diving Ocean offers excursions that allow the whole family to participate.

South tour + Jozani forest

Set off to discover the southeast of the island in a day between heavenly beaches, natural caves and lots of sea! The first stop on our tour is Paje beach where you can relax and enjoy some sun, then in the same area we will visit a seaweed “farm” where they will explain the cultivation process and the products that derive from it and then return to relax with a nice dip in the natural caves of Kuza where it is possible to bathe in these magnificent natural pools! Leaving Paje to head to the next area, we will stop to visit the Jozani forest, the only national park on the island and home to the famous red colobus and the mangrove forest. The next stops are Mtende beach on the southern tip, famous on all social media for its breathtaking view, and Michamvi beach which is located in a recess in the perimeter of the island that gives us the opportunity to admire the beautiful sunset even when we are on the east coast!

South tour

Set off to discover the south-east of the island in a day between heavenly beaches, natural caves and lots of sea! The next stops are Mtende beach on the southern tip, famous on all social media for its breathtaking view, and Michamvi beach which is located in a recess of the perimeter of the island that gives us the opportunity to admire the beautiful sunset even when we are on the east coast!

Stone town + Spice farm

In about an hour and a half from the village of Nungwi you reach Stone Town, the capital city of Zanzibar, a city with a thousand facets and a thousand aspects, a UNESCO cultural heritage site and for us to discover: its endless alleys, the Forodhani gardens, the famous spice market and the Darajani market and the Anglican church and much more… Once the tour is over, we will set off by car on the road back where an obligatory stop will be in the hinterland of the island to discover the origin of all the spices that we commonly find on our tables. The local guides will show you their various uses, aesthetic, culinary, medical and much more!

Departure by boat from the capital and sail for about 30 minutes to reach Prison Island, literally the “prison island”, famous mainly for the presence of the giant tortoises of the Seychelles! After the guided tour where you will be told the history of this ancient island, we will embark again to return to the mainland where we will explore together the magnificent city of Stone Town. Not only the capital, but also a UNESCO heritage site, it is a city of a thousand colors and scents, with a thousand facets and all to be discovered: its infinite alleys, the Forodhani gardens, the famous spice market and the Darajani market and the Anglican church and much more … Once the tour is over, we will set off by car on the road back where the last obligatory stop will be in the hinterland of the island to discover the origin of all the spices that we commonly find on our tables. The local guides will show you their various uses, aesthetic, culinary, medical and much more!

After the guided tour where you will be told the history of this ancient island, we will embark again to reach in about 30 minutes our second stop: the very famous sandbar, better known as Nakupenda (in Swahili “I love you”), where you will be able to rest in the shade of the gazebos set up on the spot and have lunch with a large grill of mixed fish and fresh tropical fruit! After recovering it is time to return to the mainland where, less than 40 minutes by car on the way back to the hotel, we will explore the hinterland of the island to discover the origin of all the spices that we commonly find on our tables. The local guides will show you their various uses, aesthetic, culinary, medical and much more!

After the guided tour where you will be told the history of this ancient island, we will embark again to reach in about 30 minutes our second and last stop: the very famous sandbar, better known as Nakupenda (in Swahili “I love you”). Here you will be able to go for a swim, rest in the shade of the gazebos set up on the spot, relax in this little piece of paradise located in the middle of the great Indian Ocean and also enjoy its fruits thanks to the cooked and served lunch of mixed grill and fresh tropical fruit!

During the famous sunset cruise, we will start our sailing from Nungwi beach at 4pm on a typical Dhow sailing boat carried by the wind and sea waves while enjoying an unforgettable experience with friends and live music! We will dance and have fun in company until we reach the beautiful Kendwa beach and admire the suggestive “golden hour” of the west coast, when the sun sets in the Indian Ocean creating a beautiful spectacle for us. Fresh tropical fruit and water will be offered for free! The return will be expected around 6.30pm.

Mikumi Safari

The ideal safari when you have little time available! Leaving from Zanzibar by plane (flight time approximately 40 minutes), you land directly in the park. You will find savannah landscapes. Mikumi is generally called the “little Serengeti”. Chance to see elephants, giraffes, zebras, lions, antelopes, hippos…French or English speaking guide. All-inclusive price: hotel/airport transfer Return, plane, guide, shared jeep, lunch and soft drink.

Tumbatu Island

Tumbatu, the third largest island in the Zanzibar archipelago, is surrounded by a colorful coral reef. You will be amazed by the richness of marine life in this incredible area. We leave at 8:00 am from Nungwi beach and reach our destination after a 45 minute boat ride. Our professional guides will take you to two different locations, both snorkeling and diving, and show you all the secrets of the area. Between the two marine activities, you will be served fresh tropical fruits, water and local pastries.

Mnemba

The excursion to the atoll of Mnemba, which is the only marine park declared a protected area by the Zanzibari government, is a must for your stay in Zanzibar. The departure is scheduled at 8:00 from the beach of Nungwi, after a navigation of about 1 hour and thirty aboard a local boat called dhow you will reach the marine park, the vivid coral and the presence of more than 300 species of tropical fish await you in the crystal clear waters typical of the Indian Ocean. During the navigation the possibility of sighting groups of dolphins and bottlenose dolphins is very high. Our guides will decide according to the sea conditions and the behavior of these wonderful mammals if you swim with them giving you a wonderful and unique experience. The coral reef that surrounds the island will be the scene of the first snorkel always accompanied by a professional guide of diving following the European standards of maximum safety. Between the first dip and the second will be offered
fresh tropical fruit and typical local sweets. Lunch is scheduled after the second snorkel on the boat if the sea conditions allow or on the beach of Muyuni where the white sand will be the setting for a grilled fish. The return is scheduled around 16:00 to the beach of Nungwi.

Jozani forest

Land excursion for nature lovers, the forest of Jozani is the only national park of the island, small and quiet. Inside there are tall plants such as plane trees, palms and mahogany, houses of small lemurs, 50 different species of butterflies, 40 species of birds and about 6000 specimens of the famous red colobus, monkey present only in Zanzibar and some areas of Tanzania. Also inside the
forest, crossing walkways and wooden bridges, you can visit the wonderful park of mangroves in a spectacular landscape.

Spice farm

Trip to the hinterland of the island to discover where all the spices commonly found on our tables are born. Accompanied by the local guide, they will show you their various uses, aesthetic, culinary, medical and much more, in a relaxing and fresh ride thanks to the high vegetation of palm trees and various proposed riddles in which you will need to activate the sight, touch and smell!

Stone Town

Capital of a thousand facets, UNESCO heritage for its historical, cultural, culinary and religious aspects. Walking through the narrow streets and alleys of the old city, visiting the gardens of Forodhani, shopping in the various local shops and the spice shops in the large market of Darajani, are the experiences you will make during this tour. Do not miss the visit to the Old Arab Fort, the house with
the museum of Freddy Mercury and the Slave Trade Center.

TGI Blue Safari

Off the beaten track, at the pace of nature. The TGI safari blu is an adventure designed exclusively for our guests. Starting from the coast of Nungwi beach and sailing east, chasing the hot African sun we will wait for the appearance of the sandbank while snorkeling in the incredibly turquoise waters of this part of the Indian Ocean. Among colorful tropical fish and corals of all shapes we will work up an appetite, to then feast on a grill of shellfish, sweet and savory local specialties and quench our thirst with tasty seasonal fruit on the strip of sand that has just emerged depending on the tide. How can we end this dream day if not accompanied by the wind with a sunset cruise? In fact, we will wait for the sun to dive into the sea to return among songs, dances and a few you will be drinks!

TGI Nakupenda

On a cruise on a dhow, the typical Zanzibari boat, we will reach Tumbatu to snorkel along the rich and colorful seabed. Tumbatu, the island of mystery and practically unapproachable to tourists, is in fact famous for being the home of spirits and sorcerers, who practice the occult arts of black magic here. After the activities in the water, with the possibility of spotting sea turtles, we will satisfy our appetite on the suggestive and wonderful strip of sand, which barely emerges from the surface of the crystalline waters that surround it. A rich grill of fish awaits us, with lobsters and prawns, sweet and succulent tropical fruit and homemade sweets. The departure and return times may vary depending on the tides.

Prison Island

Departure by boat from the capital, Stone Town, and sailed about 30 minutes to get to Changuu Island, better known as Prison Island, literally the “prison island”, so called for its history: uninhabited until 1860, was transformed into a place of detention for slaves during the occupation of the Sultanate of Oman and then became a prison, hence the name. Later, in the early 20th century, it was used as a hospital and quarantine site during the yellow fever pandemic. Currently, the island is a famous tourist attraction that combines historical, naturalistic and cultural interest, mainly famous for the presence of the giant tortoises of the Seychelles that, free in the park, can be photographed, caressed and even fed by tourists! There are no reliable sources of their arrival in Zanzibar, but the population says that the governor of Seychelles gave five specimens to the Sultanate in 1919… Now the island is home to more than 200 specimens, including one of the famous five that exceeds 100
years of age and weight 250kg!
